Pablo joined the GCCS in 2025 as Co-Chair of the centre’s Implementation workstream (alongside Rachael Owens). Pablo is an applied social scientist trying to do useful research, at the intersection of human enterprise, social issues and natural environments. He’s interested in the generative power of social science research and engaged scholarship; and how, combined, they can help us imagine and enact better futures. Playful experimentation underlies his work. In 2023, he founded the Social Science Enterprise Lab where they are developing unconventional methods and tools to scale up the impact of social science research through commercialisation. At the Lab, Pablo and the team bring use-inspired / solution-oriented research and business development together and into collaborative research processes. In the process, Pablo co-founded Mind Your Business, a Durham University spin-out that offers business development support as though people mattered.
In his professional life, Pablo wears several hats. Alongside the Lab, Mind Your Business and his work for the GCCS, he is Co-Director of the Durham Enterprise Centre (Business School), and the Centre for Social Justice and Community Action (Sociology). Outside of Durham, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Business Venturing Insights and holds visiting research positions at IE Business School in Spain and EGADE Business School in Mexico.
