Joel is the GCCS Co ordinator at Durham University, drawing on experience in business analysis, project coordination, and cross sector service delivery to support the centre’s operational and strategic work. His background spans higher education, consultancy, youth development, and casework services, giving him a broad foundation in managing complex workflows, improving processes, and facilitating collaborative, people centred practice.

Before joining the GCCS, Joel worked as a business analyst consultant, where he supported large, multi disciplinary teams, led stakeholder engagement activities, contributed to organisational development initiatives, and coordinated project delivery across diverse settings. His work included designing and improving internal processes, developing workshop content, supporting HR and training functions, and ensuring clear communication between technical teams and senior leadership.
Joel also brings experience from roles in academic administration, where he oversaw learning and teaching processes, managed student support governance, and coordinated key procedures such as academic misconduct cases, extensions, and disability support. His earlier professional experience includes leadership within a learning centre environment and direct work with young people, particularly in safeguarding focused and youth development contexts.

Across all roles, Joel has developed strengths in communication, problem solving, structured planning, and supportive coordination. He is committed to contributing to the centre’s research, learning and implementation activity by ensuring strong systems, effective organisation, and a thoughtful, relational approach to team and project support.
