Carly is a post-graduate researcher working on the research title ‘Looking for Love:  Exploring themes of love and protection in peer relationships in safeguarding work with children and young people affected by harm outside the home’. Focusing on the role of love and protection in peer relationships, Carly is interested in how this can contribute to keeping young people safe when they experience harm outside of their homes.

Carly is working alongside the charity Safer London, in a collaborative partnership to explore these issues with a team of young researchers, aged 13 to 22, who have been affected by and/or care about this issue. The young researchers were recruited via Safer London - who support young Londoners, families, peer groups and communities who are impacted by exploitation and violence - and have influenced and helped shape the focus and design of the research. This young-researcher team will continue to play a key role in collecting information, analysing findings, and contributing to what is done with them.
