This project supports the implementation, scaling and sustainability of Contextual Safeguarding across social work, youth work and voluntary and community sectors. Through a range of communities of practice, we facilitate peer learning, practice development and the sharing of evidence-informed approaches:
- The Local Area Interest Network (LAIN), connecting over 100 local authorities, 100+ strategic leads and 400+ practice champions across England, Wales and Scotland
- A collective of voluntary and community organisations
- A community of practice for youth workers
The project will develop training, resources and peer-learning opportunities to help practitioners embed Contextual Safeguarding in their work. It will build evidence about effective responses to extra-familial harm in public spaces and support local authorities, youth work services and voluntary organisations to engage new partners, particularly hospitality organisations, in creating safer community spaces and preventing extra-familial harm.
The project is led by Delphine Peace. It is funded by BBC Children in Need and runs from 2024–2027.
