This toolkit has been developed as part of the Risk Outside the Home (ROTH) national support programme. It is dedicated to thinking about multi-agency working in ROTH pathways.
At the bottom of this page are links to GCCS resources for you to read, download and use. These resources will help you think about what it means to work collaboratively as a multi-agency partnership focused on extra-familial harm, how this differs from partnerships working in other contexts (such as on a traditional child protection pathway), and how to address and overcome challenges around different goals and values that may exist across partners engaged in a ROTH pathway.
This toolkit features new resources developed by members of the GCCS as part of our ongoing research into the development and scaling of ROTH pathways. Since 2019, these GCCS members have completed various projects to document Contextual Safeguarding implementation. This includes learning from a range of partners such as children’s social care workers, the police, schools, voluntary and community organisations, young people, their parents, families and communities.
These resources will support both social care professionals leading ROTH pathways and professional partners who are invited to participate in a ROTH pathway to:
- Understand what a ROTH pathway is and how it differs from a traditional child-protection pathway
- Think about what effective multi-agency working looks like in this specific pathway i.e. how partners working together can promote the safety and welfare of young people
- Address challenges commonly found in multi-agency working on ROTH pathways and beyond
- Develop collaborative approaches through shared goal-setting and prioritising among partners who may hold different values and aims
